JOSEPH ASHLEY (David, Robert), born 31 July 1671 in Westfield; Mass.; died 25 February 1705-6 in Westfield; married 12 April 1699 in Westfield, ABIGAIL DEWEY, and sister of the wife of his brother David, born 14 February 1680-1 in Westfield. She married, 2d, 7 November 1706 in Westfield, her cousin Thomas Dewey of Westfield, and died 20 December 1747 in Westfield.

Joseph Ashley settled in Westfield. He was chosen "Surveyor for the country-side" in 1700, steward in 1703, and viewer in 1705.  He was probably a farmer. He died before his father, and his only child inherited his share of the latter's estate.
