Bio Obit*Mr. Sturgeon was born in East Hanover township, this county, January 1, 1826. His business was that of an expert accountant, and it was he who settled the vast estate of Peter A. and Daniel V. Ahl in Cumberland county, saving thousands of dollars for the assignees. He was a member of Pilgrim commandery, K. of T., Robert Burns lodge, A.Y.M., Dauphin encampment, lodge International Order of Odd Fellows, Harrisburg Pennsylvania. Harrisburg Patriot, 9 Dec 18895

I Henry A Sturgeon of the Borough of Carlisle County and State of Pennsylvania hereby make and publish this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made.
I direct that my body be interred by the side of the remains of my dear departed wife. Hannah M. in the family lot in the city of Harrisburg Pa.
After the payment of my just debts and funeral expenses, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Lavinia E. my silver watch, gold chain, gold masonic mark, gold spectacles, gold eye-glasses, gold headed cane, wicker rocker, “American Portrait Gallery” two volumes, “Dicks Works” two volumes, “Gems for the Fireside,” one volume, “Hills Manuel” one volume and walnut foot-rest.
All the rest and residue of my personal estate whatsoever and wheresoever, of what nature, kind and quality, so ever the same may be and not herein before given and disposed of I give and bequeath unto my dear son, Robert M. to his own used and benefit absolutely.
And I do hereby constitute and appoint my beloved wife Lavinia E. Sturgeon, Executrix and my dear son Robert M. Sturgeon, Executer of this my Last Will and Testament.
In witness whereof, I Henry A Sturgeon have here unto set my hand and seal this thirty first (31) day of January A.D. one thousand eight hundred and eighty seven (887).

I hereby ratify and confirm the said will in every respect save so far as any part of it in inconsistent with this codicil.
It is my will and I hereby direct that my beloved wife, Lavinia E. Sturgeon, shall have the use of all the furniture in the rooms now occupied by us for such a time as she may remain in the occupancy of the same. I give, devise and bequeath to each of my four daughters, Laura, Jennie, Lizzie, and Nellie the sum of ten dollars and no more.
